Tom Feldmann

    Biography

Minnesota native Tom Feldmann taught himself to play guitar at age 17 after hearing the recordings of the pioneers of acoustic blues and states, "John Lee Hooker taught me how to strum and Muddy Waters taught me how to slide."  His debut solo album was released in 1999 and Tom has since spent the years writing, touring and recording his own original gospel compositions as well as carrying on the tradition of solo acoustic blues and in 2005 Feldmann formed the Magnolia Recording Company to be "A Home Between The Cracks" for hard working musicians unable to find support.

Most recently Tom has been busy teaching guitar lessons for Stefan Grossman's Guitar Workshop who's roster of teachers reads like a "Who's Who" of the guitar world with legends like: Chet Atkins, David Bromberg, John Renbourn, John Fahey, Pat Donohue, Dave Van Ronk, Buster B. Jones and many more.

"Tom Feldmann's tone is usually gritty and lowdown, but also can soar and sound almost angelic."
- Vintage Guitar Magazine

"Tom's tasteful and powerful arrangements evoke the spirit and feel of the old recordings."
- Stefan Grossman

"Feldmann's supple fingerpickin' and lilting tenor gives immediacy to the plea for sense in today's confusing, 24/7 domineering world."
- Blues Revue Magazine

"Tom Feldmann is a master of the no-excuses, no-holdsbarred, folk-blues-roots Americana music."
- Dirty Linen Magazine
